Overnight, VMware announced its acquiring SD-WAN startup VeloCloud in a bid to strengthen its position as a major networking player.
Since the organisation was founded in 2012, VeloCloud has grown to be one of the most exciting and fastest growing OTT SD-WAN companies in market, challenging many incumbents to rethink their overall SDN strategy.
Many enterprises and large carriers, including Telstra, already use VeloCloud today. With Telstra Ventures investing in the company in March 2017 the broader organisation was able to identify opportunities for integration and quickly moved to embed VeloCloud as part of the Telstra Programmable Network (TPN). TPN provides Telstra customers with a virtual SD-WAN that enables them to shift their branch network to the cloud.
